Henry V

A scene from Henry V

Henry V was a play written by the Human playwright William Shakespeare, the fourth part of a tetralogy that includes Richard II, Henry IV, Part I and Henry IV, Part II.

In 2293, General Chang quoted the play's lines "Once more unto the breach, dear friends" and "The game's afoot" while his Bird-of-Prey attacked the USS Enterprise-A over Khitomer. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)

In 2364, in The Globe Illustrated Shakespeare: The Complete Works, there was an illustration of the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Bishop of Ely. This illustration was on display in Captain Jean Luc Picard's ready room on the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "Home Soil")

The identification of this illustration was made by Jörg Hillebrand and Bernd Schneider for Ex Astris Scientia. [1]

In 2366, Data reenacted Act 4, Scene 1 of Henry V on the holodeck. The scene featured the characters of Michael Williams and John Bates, and Data played a disguised Henry the Fifth. Captain Jean-Luc Picard later quoted from the scene when confronted with a possible war with the Romulans and the destruction of his ship. (TNG: "The Defector")

In 2370, Henry V was among the literary works selected by Data to better understand Humanity. (TNG: "Emergence")

The title of the Deep Space Nine episode "Once More Unto the Breach" comes from Henry V.
