Template:Realworld Template:2008spoiler Hal Joseph Olofsson (born 6 August 1966; age 57) is an American assistant director and producer. He was the First Assistant Director for the 2nd Unit of 2009's Star Trek.

His early credits as an assistant director include the films Best of the Best 2 (starring Meg Foster, Mike Genovese, Patrick Kilpatrick, and Nicholas Worth), White Wolves: A Cry in the Wild II (starring Matt McCoy), and its sequel, White Wolves II: Legend of the Wild. He was also an assistant director on the popular children's series Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. He then served as both First Assistant Director and Co-Producer on the independent film The First to Go, which starred Zach Galligan.

Olofsson frequently collaborated with filmmakers Bobby and Peter Ferrelly, serving as a Second and later as First Assistant Director on the films There's Something About Mary (featuring Willie Garson and Sarah Silverman), Me, Myself & Irene, Say It Isn't So (featuring Brent Hinkley, David L. Lander, Courtney Peldon, Richard Riehle, and Sarah Silverman), Osmosis Jones (featuring the voice of William Shatner), Shallow Hal (starring Bruce McGill), Stuck on You (featuring Seymour Cassel and cinematography by Dan Mindel), Fever Pitch (featuring Willie Garson, Jack Kehler, James B. Sikking, and cinematography by Matthew F. Leonetti), and The Heartbreak Kid (also photographed by Leonetti). Olofsson was also an associate producer on the latter three films.

In addition, Olofsson was a Second Assistant Director on the hit comedy films Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (featuring Clint Howard, Jack Kehler, and Charles Napier) and American Pie (featuring John Cho, Clyde Kusatsu, and Lawrence Pressman). He was both First Assistant Director and Associate Producer on the drama film Madison (starring Paul Dooley). More recently, he has been serving as First Assistant Director on Scary Movie-type film spoofs from writer-directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, namely Date Movie, Epic Movie, and Meet the Spartans. Olofsson was also an Associate Producer on Epic Movie and a Co-Producer on Meet the Spartans. The cast of the latter film included Diedrich Bader, Phil Morris, and Jim Nieb and featured art direction by Star Trek Nemesis set designer William Ladd Skinner.

The Second Assistant Director for Star Trek's 2nd Unit was David Berke, with whom Olofsson previously collaborated on Stuck on You, Date Movie, Epic Movie, The Heartbreak Movie, and Meet the Spartans. Olofsson and Berke more recently served as First Assistant Director and Second Assistant Director, respectively, on yet another Friedberg/Seltzer film spoof, Disaster Movie, which is set for release in August 2008.
