AirPoliceSergeant

...as an Air Police staff sergeant

Hal Lynch (13 November 19275 October 2006; age 78) was an American bit actor whose decade-long television and movie career from the mid-1960s to mid-70s consisted mostly of guest appearances. Among those was the Air Police sergeant in the "Tomorrow is Yesterday" episode of Star Trek: The Original Series.

Lynch was born as James Harold Tilton Lynch in Birmingham, Alabama, but grew up in the city of Opp. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, graduating in 1945. Five years later, he was hit with the acting bug. He ultimately made his TV debut with an appearance on the long-running Western series Gunsmoke in 1964. He would go on to appear on such programs as Hogan's Heroes, The Fugitive, The F.B.I., Perry Mason, The Big Valley, Bonanza, The Rockford Files, and Cannon. He also had roles in more than twenty films, including Stagecoach (1966), The Way West (1967), and Wild Rovers (1971). His last work was a guest spot on a 1975 episode of Barnaby Jones, alongside his friend and fellow TOS guest star Lee Meriwether.

Lynch retired from Hollywood in 1975 and returned to Opp, where he worked to preserve the community's history. In 2006, Lynch died of an apparent suicide at the age of 78.
