The HMS Endeavour was a ship of the Royal Navy in the late 18th century. This ship, under the command of Captain James Cook, charted the Pacific Ocean.
In the mid-20th century, NASA named one of their space shuttles for this ship. For its first mission, STS-49, Cook's ship was incorporated into the design of the mission insignia.
In 2143, this insignia was displayed in the 602 Club. (ENT: "First Flight")
Starfleet named at least three of their starships after this ancient sailing ship: the USS Endeavour (NCC-1895), USS Endeavour (NCC-39272), and the USS Endeavour (NCC-71805).
The flags on the Endeavour's masts bore the colors of the two schools that won the nationwide contest for naming the shuttle: Senatobia (Mississippi) Middle School and Tallulah Falls (Georgia) School.
