A gravity plate, also referred to as grav-plating, artificial gravity plating, or gravity net, was used to provide artificial gravity on starships. Gravity plating could be lined along a ship's exterior hull, or across the interior deck plates. It was created using an artificial gravity generator.

Gravity plating could be constructed from duranium sheeting. (VOY: "Alice")

When they were children, Travis Mayweather and Nora deactivated the grav-plating aboard the ECS Horizon and jumped on the bed, which lead to them being grounded. (ENT: "Horizon")

In 2151, Keene caught a football and proclaimed it to be "hauled down in the corner of the end zone. Touchdown!". His first officer Matthew Ryan only answered that he would love to see Keene make that catch with the gravity plating at Earth sea level. (ENT: "Fortunate Son")

When Enterprise NX-01 was preparing to engage an unknown enemy vessel, Commander Trip Tucker and Lieutenant Reed intentionally overloaded the phase modulators to increase the yield of Enterprise's phase cannons, using the gravity plating of the affected decks to absorb the recoil. (ENT: "Silent Enemy")

Travis Mayweather recalled an incident with his father where their ship lost its generators, grav-plating, and life support. (ENT: "The Catwalk")

In the mirror universe in 2155, Captain Jonathan Archer used the USS Defiant's gravity plating to increase the gravity under Slar, weighing him down to the ground. (ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II")

In 2371, Benjamin Sisko built a gravity net into his replica Bajoran lightship because historically-accurate weightlessness would make him queasy. (DS9: "Explorers")

In an alternate timeline, the gravitational plating in Chakotay's quarters buckled. (VOY: "Year of Hell, Part II")

In 2375, a failure of the graviton stabilizer aboard the USS Defiant caused the gravity net on the ship's bridge to reverse. When asking Chief Miles O'Brien to make repairs, Captain Benjamin Sisko remarked that he felt "ten kilos heavier" the last time he stepped onto the bridge. (DS9: "Treachery, Faith and the Great River")
