A goven was a term used by the Kazon to describe an outsider who joined another Kazon sect after leaving another.

In 2372, Commander Chakotay asked Kar if he was able to leave the Kazon-Ogla and join another Kazon sect, after Kar betrayed Jal Razik by helping Chakotay escape. Kar told Chakotay that he would be considered a goven if he joined another sect. (VOY: "Initiations")
