Golden Gate Park was a large public park, covering an area of 3 miles by ½ mile, within the city of San Francisco, California on Earth. The park had a lake.

In 1986, the location of this park was depicted on a San Francisco Municipal Railway transit map. Later that year, Admiral James T. Kirk landed his stolen Klingon ship in Golden Gate Park where it remained largely unnoticed by the local population. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

In the alternate reality of 2259, Golden Gate Park was seen on a map of the San Francisco Bay Area. This map was displayed on a powerwall in the office of Admiral Alexander Marcus. (Star Trek Into Darkness)

The footage set in Golden Gate Park was actually filmed in Will Rogers State Historical Park. [1]. However, a scene representing the Genesis planet for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was filmed there. [2]
