A Bell X-1, nicknamed the Glamorous Glennis, was a mid-20th century experimental rocket airplane flown by Chuck Yeager when he broke the sound barrier in 1947. This plane was later assigned to the Air Defense Command Flight Test Division, which was located at Wright Field. (Star Trek: Enterprise)
The plane, with Chuck Yeager, was seen in the opening credits. Yeager named the plane after his wife.
