Gideon was an inhabited planet. This was the homeworld for the Gideons, a warp capable humanoid species.
The head of the uniglobal government, known as the Gideon Council, was a prime minister. In 2268, the Ambassador of Gideon was Hodin.
The Federation Bureau of Planetary Treaties tried for many years to send Federation ambassadors to visit the planet in an attempt to persuade them to join the Federation.
