Gary Monak was the special effects supervisor on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He also worked on Star Trek Nemesis.
Monak started his career as a special effects technician on Steven Spielberg's movie 1941. His other motion picture credits include Jonathan Frakes' Clockstoppers and the highly successful film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Monak has also worked on Hunter and The Invisible Man television series. Monak is now a special effects coordinator on The O.C.
Several characters and places have been named after Monak in Star Trek, including Starfleet officer Gary Monak, the Monac sun, the Monac system and the Monac shipyards.
