Ganymede was a moon of Jupiter.
In the 23rd century, this moon was inhabited. In 2368, Montgomery Scott of the Federation starship USS Enterprise mentioned a mysterious "green drink" he found on Ganymede, and later shared with the Kelvan Tomar. (TOS: "By Any Other Name")
In early 2366, a painting of Ganymede's surface was displayed on a wall in the observation lounge of the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "The Ensigns of Command")
The painting was done by Rick Sternbach for a book cover. It originally included Jupiter. [1]
Ganymede was mentioned in the reference book Starfleet Medical Reference Manual (pp. 14, 19) as the place where a cancer-inhibiting plant compound was discovered. Topaline was also first discovered by Humans on the moon in 2021.
