Gamma Eridon was a star system in the Beta Quadrant. It was part of the Klingon Empire, near the Klingon-Romulan border. (DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad", TNG: "Redemption II")

In 2256, the system's location, and its affiliation with the empire, was marked on a star chart in the ready room of the USS Discovery. (DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad", "The War Without, The War Within") A year later, its location was labeled on the star chart showing the trajectory of Lieutenant Spock's shuttle. (DIS: "An Obol for Charon")

The system's location was labeled on a stellar cartography chart seen on the USS Enterprise's main viewscreen in 2258, as well as on the Enterprise's ready room viewscreen in 2259. This system's symbol was a red Klingon Empire logo, indicating its affiliation with the empire. (DIS: "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2", SNW: "Strange New Worlds", "Spock Amok")

In 2368, Jean-Luc Picard's blockade fleet retreated to this system to regroup and establish a new tachyon detection grid, after their initial grid had been disabled by Romulan warbirds that sought to help the House of Duras in the Klingon Civil War. However, this proved unnecessary, as the USS Sutherland was able to detect the cloaked Romulan forces by another method, before they reached Gamma Eridon. (TNG: "Redemption II")

In 2371, the system's location was labeled in the star chart Data and Picard were studying in Stellar cartography aboard the USS Enterprise-D. (Star Trek Generations, display graphic)

The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. The Gamma Eridon system was in or near to neutral space. (PIC: "Maps and Legends", "The Next Generation", "Disengage")

Background information[]

"gam-uh AIR-ih-don" was the pronunciation for this location's name from the script pronunciation guide for "Redemption II". [1]

According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 62) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Stellar Cartography", pp. 27, 30; "Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), Gamma Eridon was a binary star system with a pair of M-class stars. According to a map of the Klingon Empire – prepared by the Scribe K'Tark for the Klingon High Council in the Year of Kahless 893 (2266) – Gamma Eridon was identified as a Klingon system.

Apocrypha[]
