Gamma Argus II was the inhabited second planet of the Gamma Argus system. This was the homeworld of the Gamma Argus II natives, a pre-warp-capable species. In 2364, full Prime Directive protections were in force for this planet.
In that year, the Federation starships USS Callisto, USS Enterprise-D, and USS Mustang, acting under orders from Starfleet, observed the cultural evolution of this planet. Furthermore, according to those orders, the ship's captains, Seth Goldberg, Jimmy Arakaki, and/or Jean-Luc Picard, had the discretion to determine the desirability of making contact with the natives.
