Gallatin

Subahdar Gallatin

Subahdar Gallatin was a Son'a that served as Ru'afo's second-in-command.

Born as Gal'na on the newly settled planet in the Briar Patch, Gallatin was one of a group of several young Ba'ku individuals who desired to explore the galaxy, needing advanced technology to accomplish this goal. This aspiration was in direct contradiction to the simpler ways of life of the rest of the Ba'ku. When this group attempted to take over the rest of the Ba'ku and were unsuccessful, they were exiled from the planet and became the Son'a.

When Ru'afo intended to escalate matters by going forward with his plans despite the planet below still being inhabited, Gallatin was taken aback, and was unsuccesful in convincing his old friend to back down. Ru'afo assigned Gallatin to execute Jean-Luc Picard to prevent the USS Enterprise-E captain from interfering with his plan to harvest the regenerative powers of the metaphasic radiation generated by the rings of the planet Ba'ku. Picard was able to sway Gallatin by appealing to his sense of morality; he convinced Gallatin that by assisting Ru'afo in his plot, he would be murdering the Ba'ku, including his own family, on the planet below. Gallatin then provided information to Picard that was vital in disabling the metaphasic collector and defeating Ru'afo. After Ru'afo's death, Gallatin was one of the Son'a who elected to rejoin the Ba'ku. (Star Trek: Insurrection)

Gallatin was played by Gregg Henry. The character was likely named after Gallatin Valley, where Brannon Braga's hometown of Bozeman, Montana is located.
