The Galileo was a Federation Type 6 shuttlecraft that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-24th century, attached to the USS Enterprise-D. It was shuttle 07.

In 2364, Captain Jean-Luc Picard flew to the Enterprise-D aboard the Galileo, piloted by Lieutenant Natasha Yar, after he assumed command of the ship. (TNG: "The Naked Now", "All Good Things...")

The name Galileo was a homage by the writers to the shuttlecraft from The Original Series, which was in turn named after Galileo Galilei. (Star Trek Encyclopedia 2nd ed., p. 185)
When the Galileo was first seen in the episode The Naked Now, it was as part of a set of diagrams. The diagram showed dorsal and port profiles of the shuttle. At the time, the Galileo was a Type 7 shuttlecraft with the shuttle number 07.
