There have been several shuttlecraft named Galileo in service with Starfleet aboard ships named USS Enterprise.

Named for the 17th century astronomer Galileo Galilei.

The shuttle Galileo.

Galileo (I)

This Class F shuttlecraft was assigned to the USS Enterprise in the 2260s. In 2267, the Galileo was forced to crash-land on Taurus II and was unable to regain orbit. Lieutenant Commander Montgomery Scott was able to repair the shuttle by using hand phasers as a fuel source, and the shuttle flew long enough to get the attention of the Enterprise. Its crew was recovered, but the shuttle itself was lost. (TOS: "The Galileo Seven")

The Galileo was the first shuttlecraft created for Star Trek, although a shuttle from Starbase 11, in TOS: "The Menagerie, Part I," was the first televised shuttle as that episode was aired before TOS: "The Galileo Seven."

Galileo (II)

The Galileo was replaced with another Class F shuttle of the same registry. It was used to transport the critically-ill Nancy Hedford from Epsilon Canaris II that same year. The shuttle was inexplicably pulled off course, and forced down on a planetoid in the Gamma Canaris system. (TOS: "Metamorphosis")

The shuttle was actually brought to the planet by the Companion. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy discovered Zefram Cochrane alive and well, and Hedford remained behind when the Galileo left, as she merged with the Companion. No record of this encounter was made at the request of Cochrane.

The Galileo brought Ambassador Sarek and his wife Amanda from the surface of Vulcan to the Enterprise prior to the historic Babel Conference in 2267. (TOS: "Journey to Babel")

This Galileo was nearly lost following an encounter with a space amoeba creature on stardate 4307. Spock, motivated by the loss of the USS Intrepid, piloted the Galileo into the creature with the intention of destroying it. The explosion threw both ship and shuttle clear. Spock later returned to the Enterprise. (TOS: "The Immunity Syndrome")

Stock shots from TOS: "The Galileo Seven" were used to represent a shuttle stolen from a starbase in TOS: "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield," even though the Galileo's markings were clearly visible.

Galileo II (NCC-1701/7)

Galileo II on Eden (2269)

A Class F shuttle named Galileo, this time with the addition of a "II" in its name, was present aboard the Enterprise in 2269. It was stolen from the ship by Dr. Sevrin and his followers during their quest for the mythological planet of Eden. The shuttle was later recovered. (TOS: "The Way to Eden")

It is unknown whether or not this was actually the second Galileo, simply renamed.

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-A)

Galileo

This Galileo, designated Shuttlecraft 5, was a shuttlecraft assigned to the USS Enterprise-A following its commissioning in 2287. At that time, the transporters were still non-operational, so Uhura took the Galileo to Yosemite National Park in order to recall Captain Kirk, Spock, and Dr. McCoy after the Enterprise was ordered to Nimbus III.

Galileo 5 (2287)

The Galileo later transported a Starfleet security force to Nimbus III in order to rescue the hostages taken by Sybok. Sybok was able to thwart their plans, and forced Kirk to take him back to the Enterprise onboard the Galileo. At the same time, a Klingon Bird-of-Prey commanded by Klaa arrived. He tried to attack the Enterprise and the Galileo necessitating a quick landing, executed by Commander Sulu, dubbed landing "Plan B". The Galileo entered the hangar deck at full power, without tractor beam assistance, and was captured by a net barracade, suffering severe damage to its undercarriage. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D)

Galileo

This type-6 shuttlecraft, number 07, was one of the first shuttles assigned to the USS Enterprise-D. In 2364, Jean-Luc Picard flew to the Enterprise aboard the Galileo, piloted by Natasha Yar, after he assumed command of the ship. (TNG: "All Good Things...")
