The Galápagos Islands were a group of islands in Earth's Pacific Ocean.

The islands were visited by Charles Darwin on board the HMS Beagle in the 19th century. The discoveries he made about the islands' animal life were the keystone of Darwin's theory of evolution.

This visit was compared to A.E. Hodgkin's visit to Loracus Prime as stated in the Handbook of Exobiology, studied by Elizabeth Cutler in 2151. (ENT: "Strange New World")
