Friar Tuck was the name of a character in Human mythology who served as a priest in Robin Hood's band of Merry Men in an area of England known as Sherwood Forest. According to legend, Friar Tuck was a former monk who was expelled from his order due to a lack of respect for authority and served Robin's band as chaplain.

In 1986 San Francisco, Doctor Gillian Taylor addressed time travelers Admiral James T. Kirk and Captain Spock as Robin Hood and Friar Tuck. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

In 2367, the entity known as Q transported the senior officers of the USS Enterprise-D into a recreation of Sherwood Forest and the story of Robin Hood in an attempt to teach Captain Picard a lesson about love.
