French onion soup was a variety of soup made with onions, originating from France.

In early 2370, Benjamin Sisko jokingly remarked to Chief O'Brien he should have replicated French onion soup instead of combat rations for the people staying behind when Deep Space 9 was evacuated. (DS9: "The Siege")
