Freeman Dyson was a 20th century Human physicist who postulated the theory of what would come to be known as the Dyson sphere, a large sphere constructed around a star to provide gigantic habitats.
His theory was finally proven in 2369, when a Dyson sphere was discovered by the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "Relics")
