Franz Joseph Schnaubelt(29 June 1914 – 2 June 1994; age 79), a German technical artist, was the author and illustrator of the Star Trek Star Fleet Technical Manual and the Star Trek Blueprints. The publications, which he wrote and illustrated under the names Franz Joseph and Franz Joseph Designs helped spawn a continuing interest in both the futuristic technology depicted on Star Trek and the schematics thereof.
