The Four Deities may be the religious icons of the Lwaxana Troi's particular faith.

After the arrival of Deanna Troi to Lwaxana's quarters, which managed to interrupt Data's particularly boring set of anecdotes, during a dinner party, the elder Troi, at the delight of seeing her daughter, exclaimed: "Deanna, darling, thank the Four Deities you're here!" (TNG: "Manhunt")

Based on this statement, it is possible that polytheism is celebrated by the people of Betazed during the 24th century. However, it may be comparable to the use of "Jesus Christ" as an oath by modern humans, regardless of whether or not they are Christian.
