I am a new unpublished writer who is sick of waiting for someone to write a new series and wish to write one myself. Unfortunately i do not know who to contact to get permission to do this and am hoping some kind soul might create a page to tell me who i need to contact to get permission to continue the star trek saga so that i dont tread on any copyright toes, so to speak.

Paramount Pcitures is the entity that authorizes Star Trek tie-ins. You could contact them, but honestly, you're probably better off taking a look at the article "Media Tie-Ins: Why They are Nearly Impossible for Beginners To Publish" by Robert MacBride Allen at http://www.sfwa.org/writing/media.htm
As Allen explains, the reality is that it's unlikely (at an understatement) that Paramount--which still maintains a fairly active Star Trek publishing program to "continue the saga"--is going to authorize a new unpublished writer to write an official Star Trek story.
If you're an unpublished writer and want to become a published one, you're probably better off creating your own characters and settings, becoming successful that way until you gain such a reputation that the proprietors of a media property will seek you out--or at least will listen to your proposal. Engaging in fan fiction is fine, as long as you don't try to profit from it. When unauthorized books are sold, Paramount has been known to have lawyers halt sales of books and materials at conventions. Some of the "Fan fiction" concepts have eventually been picked up and accepted by published Star Trek, but not very often. -- Captain M.K.B. 04:43, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
