I've added sections for major events on 20th century, 21st century, 22nd century and 23rd century to better separate them from those events listed on these articles due to a lacking specification of an exact year. So far, they've been mixed up occasionally. Since there has been some remark on the sensibility of listing information which is already mentioned elsewhere, I'd like to know some opinions. After all, the circumstance of information being covered on various other articles does not negate the sensibility of having bits of it displayed in a re-focused, re-organised manner (e.g. all the history-articles). Should this also be applied to the decades-pages? --36ophiuchi 20:37, August 14, 2011 (UTC)

I believe you may have misinterpreted my point. I said we shouldn't just copy information from year articles to create a major events section on decade or century articles. If the information is presented in a different manner, in relation to article, then I think that's fine, but just saying something happened without further context, in relation to the rest of the article, on several pages should be avoided. Also, what would be considered a "major event" in universe may be different then what we're seen on screen. There are a number of events never seen, and only mentioned in passing, that are suppose to be "major" historical points. - Archduk3 21:30, August 14, 2011 (UTC)

Of course we should only list such events that are referenced in Star Trek canon. So far, I've tried to condense those events I deemed to be "major" ones - meaning I omitted birthdates etc and focused on developments which are referenced to affect the following decades and on "historical" threats (e.g. the xindi-bioweapon, V'ger, the khitomer accords, the eugenics wars and so forth) Wherever applicable, I've added their significance as it is mentioned on screen (e.g. the US emerging victorious in WW2, so its dominance can lead to the political developments resonating on into the 24 century - TNG: Manhunt) ... Nevertheless, assembling such a list will always remain a matter of subjective judgement, history always is... even fictional Trek-history :p --36ophiuchi 22:16, August 14, 2011 (UTC)
