In STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, why exactly does Admiral Marcus need Khan to design a warship? Surely there are plenty of ship and weapons designers already on hand without having to press into service a genetically-enhanced tyrant from centuries ago who will have no knowledge of 23rd century technology. And how was Khan able to accomplish all that within the six months or so between the end of the last movie and the beginning of STID? 82.20.113.152 16:02, July 29, 2013 (UTC)
- The answer is given in the film:
"Why would a Starfleet admiral ask a three hundred year old frozen man for help?"
"Because, I am... better"
"At what?"
"Everything!"
- - Kirk and Khan
"Alexander Marcus needed to respond to an uncivilized threat in a civilized time and for that, he need a warrior's mind - my mind... to design weapons and warships."
" You're suggesting the admiral violated every regulation he vowed to uphold simply because he wanted to exploit your intellect?"
"He wanted to exploit my savagery. Intellect alone is useless in a fight, Mr. Spock, you, you can't even break a rule, how could be expected to break bone?
