Forums ForumsTen Forward → Is there a Federation payscale listed somewhere, or mentioned on an episode or in a book? (replywatch)

Obviously, Federation officers and staff get paid something, as they're able to spend money at Quarks, for example. Was a pay ever mentioned? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.18.101.241.

I refer you to the money article; "You see, money doesn't exist in the 24th century... The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives."; If they get paid, it isn't in money. Kirk once told Scotty he "earned his pay for the week" in "The Doomsday Machine"; he might have been speaking figuratively, but it could suggest they get paid something like Federation credits which has also been alluded too. There was a reference to "investment" in Kirk and Spock's Starfleet training (in "Errand of Mercy", I think). Julian Bashir attempted to turn down being paid latinum for his work in "Prophet Motive". 31dot (talk) 14:47, March 24, 2014 (UTC)
A scripted but unfilmed scene of the episode "For the Uniform" has O'Brian confront Quark about his billing him for six cases of Champagne for the night shift that has been queried by Starfleet Accounting. As this was not shot it can't be considered cannon. The line about investment in Spock's training Kirk says "Do you know how much Starfleet have invested in you?" (this after Spock saves Kirk on the hunch poison spores won't harm a Vulcan) Spock starts to reel off a number only to be cut off before he gets to a unit. He could be talking about how much time Starfleet have invested in his training. Lt.Lovett (talk) 10:52, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
