I just received the following:

"You have new messages on Star Trek Expanded Universe Database."

That's a different wiki. Sometimes, I may edit foreign Wikipedias and other Wikimedia projects (esp. Wiktionary) and when I get new messages on other Wikimedia wikis while surfing Wikipedia, I don't get cross-wiki new message notifications there. Why on this Wikia wiki and not on the Wikimedia ones? I'm curious.

PS: I guess someone messaged me there because I created the Global Warming article on the Expanded Universe Wiki. Please critique it; how would it be better? =) --70.179.175.240 06:00, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia, Wikiquote, Wikctionary, etc. are all part of the Wikimedia company and wiki networks. Memory Alpha, Star Trek Expanded, Aircraft Wiki, Wookieepedia, etc. are all part of Wikia, and that network of wikis. If you get a message on a wiki, you get a notification on all wikis part of that overall project. That means a message on a Wikimedia wiki will result in notification on all Wikimedia wikis, and a message on a Wikia wiki will result in a message on all Wikia wikis. --OuroborosCobra ^talk 06:22, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
