There seems to be some confusion, if only my own, about the overlap between these two. Wouldn't all fictional characters created by a Holodeck also be holograms by definition. How about characters like Queen Arachnia and Captain Proton? Real people playing fictional characters in a holodeck, but I believe Arachnia has shown up once when not played by Janeway. - Archduk3 09:33, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Fictional characters on the holodeck are only holograms(in addition to fictional characters) if we've seen them as a hologram and not just as a character assumed by a non-hologram. Said the other way, a hologram is not a fictional character if we have only seen them as a hologram. --31dot 09:41, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

So that would make the President of Earth a fictional character, not a hologram, even though he is portrayed by The Doctor. - Archduk3 19:41, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I would probably say that. :) --31dot 19:48, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

In which case I would like to propose this sidebar: User:Archduk3/Sidebar as seen here. - Archduk3 22:48, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

I would probably say that any hologram who is NOT being played by Picard, Data, Janewau, or anyone else is a fictional character. The holograms are played by the computer.- JustPhil 23:02, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, captain proton is a fictional character played by a regular, just like Arachnia... — Morder (talk) 23:08, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Wait, Phil, are you saying the NPCs are fictional? Cause the first sentence contradicts the second. Though I think you meant that NPCs are holograms while played characters are not. Though in Constance Goodheart's case, she was once played by Seven of Nine. - Archduk3 23:20, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

And what about the Julian Bashir, Secret Agent characters? IE: Falcon. - Archduk3 23:27, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

I haven't seen that episode yet.- JustPhil 23:35, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

It's a great one, you should check it out, if the Bond thing is something you're into.

I'm going to mark all characters that are not played as holograms, including those that only look like "real" people, IE: the Secret Agent and Fist Full of Datas characters. I'm also going to change the mislabeled Aliases, IE: Katie O'Clare. She's in costume = she's playing a fictional character, unless anyone cares to differ? - Archduk3 04:02, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
