Episode air dates

On the Dutch version of MA we've been working on our version of the production timeline. Unfortunately we've gotten a little confused. On Star Trek.com (and sources like Wikipedia and TV.com) the air dates are different then the ones on the English version of MA. For example: according to Star Trek.com the TNG episode "Liaisons" aired on 27 September and according to MA the air date is 25 September. The same applies for the DS9 episode "Waltz": Star Trek.com says 8 January and MA says 3 January. While reading through the other episodes similar differences showed up. Anyone got an explanation for these differences? And what was the source for the air dates on the English MA? There seem to be a lot of sources floating around the internet, while none of them come to any sort of consensus. --Patricia 19:55, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- TNG and DS9 were both syndicated; the episodes didn't air on the same day everywhere in the US. That is why the air dates usually have "week of" in front of them, because the episodes were released in weeks not on days. The problem is that no one knows what "week 45 of 1992" was, so they use a date in the week to anchor it. That is the "air date". As long as the dates are in the same week, it's fine, but they should probably be the first day of the week, or the first day that the show aired somewhere, but this is very hard to determine unless you have all a collection of TV Guides or something. --Bp 20:07, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- Wow, that's a quick response! Thanks. But I'm afraid it doesn't take away all of my confusion... If you use the date 3 January for "Waltz" it would be on a Saturday in 1998. While 8 January would be on Thursday in the next week. But I agree with you that it is very hard to determine what the first day really should be. On the Dutch version we used most of the dates from StarTrek.com so it would be difficult to change all of them to the English dates. But I'm sure you know the saying: Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations :). --Patricia 20:29, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
