What percentage of visitors use broadband? I do not use dialup and pages load fairly quickly. Should there be article size restrictions for universal surfing considerations? I can't imagine how long it must take James T. Kirk or Worf to load without broadband. On a similar note, what 10 pages have the largest size? For one thing, you are never going to get an accurate measure of how many are on broadband vs. not by using these forums. Not nearly enough people talk on here. Second, the idea is not to do things that you KNOW will screw with dial-up users, like a million thumbnails in one page. "Obviously", eh?  ;-) I was only soliciting a sample percentage for a general idea. In my infinite naïveté, it never occured to me that everyone wasn't already using broadband. Anything that might help folks access MA better is worth discussing. Longer articles could possibly be broken into smaller articles. Bp, I'd just like to point out that the list you provided is the size of how much a page takes up on the database. That includes all edits and revisions, and is therefore far far bigger than what someone has to load when they are viewing a page. for example, Worf is listed as 28.3 megabytes on the database (text only), but it is in fact only 109 kilobytes (text only) to load, as you only are viewing the most recent version. --OuroborosCobra ^talk 03:45, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
