Folkert Schmidt is the actor who portrayed a Starfleet doctor in the Star Trek: The Next Generation second season episode "Contagion" in 1989.

Schmidt's other acting credits include the television drama Those She Left Behind (1989, along George Coe, Joel Polis, Judyann Elder, David Selburg, and Wyatt Knight), the science fiction thriller Dark Angel (1990, with Matthias Hues, Sam Anderson, Sherman Howard, Michael J. Pollard, Tony Brubaker, and Gary Baxley), the action drama Stone Cold (1991, with Nick Dimitri and Tom Magee), and the thriller Judicial Consent (1994, with Henry Brown).
