The Federal Bureau of Investigation, or FBI, is a United States of America government organization in charge of the discovery, prevention and prosecution of terrorism, Internet-based or high technology attacks, public corruption, violation of civil rights and major crime, usually targeting the nation of the United States of America directly.

In 1968, Roberta Lincoln at first assumed her employers and Gary Seven worked for the FBI when she learned they were not researching for a new encyclopedia as claimed. (TOS: "Assignment: Earth")

Pavel Chekov was interrogated by an FBI agent in 1986, who believed that he was a "Ruskie." (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
