An extraction pump is a large mechanism utilized for retrieving deuterium from beneath a planet's surface, to be utilized as fuel aboard starships.

In 2152, the crew of the Enterprise NX-01 discovered a deuterium mining colony which utilized a series of extraction pumps. Due to repeated vandalism and assaults by the crew of a Klingon vessel, the colony was in an extremely impoverished state, including damaged and disabled extraction pumps, which Enterprise's chief engineer, Charles Tucker, helped to repair. Later, in an attempt to deceive the Klingon crew, Captain Archer had the entire colony relocated approximately fifty meters to the south, including the pumps, in order to lure the Klingons into a trap.
