Expressionist was a style of painting with that was colorful with vivid details.
In 2370, Data gave Worf a painting that he described as an expressionist interpretation of the Battle of HarOs. Worf was not impressed, but Deanna Troi liked it. With Riker's help, she hung it on the wall of Worf's quarters, replacing a shield. (TNG: "Parallels")
