The location of Eminair in "The Explored Galaxy" star chart

Eminiar VII was the seventh planet in the Eminiar planetary system. This system, located within star cluster NGC 321, was in the Alpha Quadrant. The atmosphere was capable of supporting humanoid life-forms. The planet was the homeworld for the Eminians, a spaceflight humanoid species. An uniglobal government, the Eminian Union, governed this world from a capital city.

The principal planet in its system, Eminiar had been fighting a war with its colony, Vendikar, for five hundred years. (Vendikar was the third planet in the system.) The war was ended abruptly in 2267 by Captain James Kirk of the USS Enterprise. The civilization was advanced, having had space flight for several hundred years, but it had elected not to venture outside of its solar system. Legitimate targets in the war included vessels orbiting the planet, a fact that caused Kirk considerable difficulty during his visit. Ambassador Robert Fox worked with the two planets to create a lasting peace. (TOS: "A Taste of Armageddon")

In 2268, when held captive by the Kelvans, Captain Kirk asked Lieutenant Commander Spock if he could repeat what he did with the guard on Eminair VII by tricking him into believing the landing party had escaped. The attempt worked, but only briefly before the Kelvans recapture the landing party. (TOS: "By Any Other Name")

A view of the surface of Eminiar VII was depicted on several viewscreens on Deep Space 9's Promenade and Replimat (DS9: "The Muse") advertising a trip to the "scenic Eminiar VII". (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")

The chart, The Explored Galaxy, was first seen chronologically in 2293. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country) It was also seen in several Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes set in the 24th century, from the year 2364 to 2370. These were: TNG: "Conspiracy", "The Measure Of A Man", "The Emissary", "The Mind's Eye", "The Game" and DS9: "In the Hands of the Prophets", "Cardassians".
