Emerald City was the capital city of the fictional Land of Oz. As described in the 19th century Earth book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum (and subsequent 20th century film The Wizard of Oz), the city was known for being made largely out of emeralds, green glass and other jewels.
