First signs of elogium
The elogium is the physiological process in which a female Ocampa becomes sexually mature, similar to puberty in most humanoids. The elogium happens only once in a lifetime (between the ages of 4 and 5 years) and during this time, she must conceive if she is to have a child. Some side effects of this condition include fever, dangerously elevated pulse and hypertension, delirium with elements of anxiety and paranoia, and an exponential increase in appetite. Perspiration, changes in eye color, and discoloration of the skin surrounding the eyes may also be evident.
