Elliot Schick worked as First Assistant Director on the even-numbered episodes during the first half of the original Star Trek's second season. The character of Elliot in "The Doomsday Machine" is named after him.

Schick began as an assistant director, then quickly moved to become a Unit Production Manager and Producer, in which capacity he worked on numerous films. These include Dillinger, Futureworld, Private Benjamin, Masters of the Universe and Total Recall.
