The El-Adrel system is a neutral star system located halfway between the United Federation of Planets and the Tamarian space. A Tamarian vessel commanded by Dathon chose this system to attempt communication with the Federation in 2368, because a creature on the fourth planet offered a parallel with a story in their mythology. The USS Enterprise-D was sent to answer their signal. (TNG: "Darmok")
