Edward "Ed" Madden is the actor who appeared in two episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series including the first pilot episode "The Cage" in 1964. Scenes from this episode were later reused for the first season episodes "The Menagerie, Part I" and "The Menagerie, Part II".

Beside his work on Star Trek, Madden had guest roles in Gunsmoke (1963, with Howard Culver), the "Man in a Chariot" episode of The Fugitive (1964, with Peter Duryea, Stewart Moss, and Gene Lyons), Death Valley Days (1965), and Cimarron Strip (1968, with Dallas Mitchell).
