- "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot" - Jean-Luc Picard (various)
A special blend of tea, the Earl Grey melange was named after Charles Grey, the Second Earl Grey, who apparently received a diplomatic gift of this blend. It receives its distinctive flavor and aroma from bergamot oil, from a fragrant citrus fruit native to Earth's Mediterranean region.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard was renowned for his fondness of this blend. He typically ordered it hot. (TNG: "Contagion")
On tasting Earl Grey tea, Elim Garak remarked, "I'd like to get my hands on that fellow Earl Grey and tell him a thing or two about tea leaves." (DS9: "In Purgatory's Shadow")
Lieutenant Commander Nella Daren believed that Picard's consumption of Earl Grey late at night led to insomnia, and suggested an herbal tea instead. (TNG: "Lessons")
When Fleet Admiral Alynna Nechayev visited the Enterprise-D in 2370, Captain Picard prepared a pot of Earl Grey tea, Bularian canapés, and watercress sandwiches for her in the observation lounge, to let her feel welcome on board the ship. (TNG: "Journey's End")
Earl Grey was not yet programmed into the Enterprise-D replicator system when the ship set out on its mission to Farpoint Station in 2364. (TNG: "All Good Things...")
After meeting Captain Picard, the man he was cloned from, Shinzon had some of the Captain's favorite tea on the bridge of the Scimitar. (Star Trek Nemesis)
