E.W. Roddenberry was a science fiction writer in the 1950s. Stories by Roddenberry include "Questor" and "The Cage", the latter of which was published in the March 1953 issue of Incredible Tales magazine. (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars")
E.W. Roddenberry is obviously a homage to Star Trek creator Eugene Wesley Roddenberry.
