The term dreadnought may refer to:

Onscreen, the term "dreadnought" has not been used to refer to a starship type. In references, only the Federation class has been called a dreadnought, in Franz Joseph's Star Fleet Technical Manual.

In the real world, "dreadnought" was a generic term for a type of modern battleship patterned after the HMS Dreadnought. The term fell out of use after dreadnoughts became the standard for battleship design. In Trek, it is not clear what, if any distinction there is between dreadnoughts among other warships.
