Synopsis

Captain Calhoun takes his ship and crew back in time to prevent a genocide, only to alter the timeline in an unexpected and not entirely welcome way.

When a group of religious nuts called the Redeemers target a world named Haresh for "purification", Captain Calhoun will stop the outrageous conclusion to the world of Haresh. He orders the ship to head the the planet Haresh to intervene, but the call for an emergency rescue of another world slows their progress. When the ship finally gets there, all they find is a lifeless planet.

Calhoun outraged by this decides to try a risky scheme to travel back in time, arriving at Haresh early enough to save the population from the Redeemers. One of Captain Kirk's maneuver isn't popular, though, either with his crew or with the 29th-Century Federation time ship USS Relativity, which is prepared to use force against the Excalibur. With the Relativity on one side and the Redeemers on the other, Calhoun is a man in the crossfire. And there's no easy way out!
