Donald "Don" Rutherford is the actor who portrayed Socrates in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Darkling". He did not receive credit for this role.

Rutherford is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Actors' Equity, and the American Guild of Variety Artists. He is also a musician and, as such, is a member of the American Federation of Musicians and the American Guild of Musical Artists.

Besides Voyager, Rutherford appeared in an episode of the series Vengeance Unlimited (1999) along with fellow Star Trek alumni Karen Austin, James Avery, Jennifer Hetrick, Leslie Hope, Ken Jenkins, Clyde Kusatsu, Raphael Sbarge, and Michael Buchman Silver, and in episodes of Profiler, Silk Stalkings, Arrest & Trial (2001, along David Jean Thomas), and Murder Live.

His feature film resume includes supporting and featured parts in the comedy Jingle All the Way (1996), Steven Spielberg's drama Amistad (1997, with Victor Rivers, Castulo Guerra, and Harry Groener), Spielberg's sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Wolfgang Petersen's action film Air Force One (1997), Barry Levinson's comedy Wag the Dog (1997, with Kirsten Dunst), as Captain Smith in the television documentary Titanic: Secrets Revealed (1998, with Lou Slaughter), the crime drama Wicked Sins (2002), Spielberg's drama Catch Me If You Can (2002), the drama The Terminal (2004, with Zoe Saldana, Jude Ciccolella, Michael Nouri, and Justin Rodgers Hall), and The Life He Chose (2005).
