Dialysis was a medical procedure used to replace lost kidney function.
In 1986, while looking for Commander Pavel Chekov at Mercy Hospital, Dr. Leonard McCoy assisted an elderly woman undergoing kidney dialysis by giving her medication from the 23rd century.
