For her first Trek role in the episode "The Masterpiece Society", Young filmed her scenes on Thursday 7 November 1991, between Monday 11 November 1991 and Tuesday 12 November 1991, and between Thursday 14 November 1991 and Friday 15 November 1991 on Paramount Stage 9 and 16.

Outside of Star Trek, she played a waitress in the science fiction comedy Spaceballs with Tim Russ and Kate Rambeau in the cult classic Rock 'n' Roll High School which co-starred Clint Howard. She also appeared in the 1987 science fiction film The Running Man which co-starred Mick Fleetwood. Her older sister, Leigh Taylor-Young, also appeared in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as Ezri Dax's mother Yanas Tigan.

She also appeared in the movie Executive Decision with Andreas Katsulas, Ken Jenkins, Warren Munson, Richard Riehle, and Eugene Roche.
