Dessica II was the inhabited second planet in the Dessica system. Located in Sector 2158, in the Beta Quadrant, this planet was home to ancient Romulan settlements, including Nafir.

In 2370, Dessica II was controlled by a government suspected by Starfleet of being corrupt. This planet was one of several planets in its sector that had been raided by a band of mercenaries led by Arctus Baran, who were looking for fragments of the Stone of Gol from ancient Romulan ruins. Captain Jean-Luc Picard tracked the band from its destructive work at Nafir to a bar, where he was captured by the band. (TNG: "Gambit, Part I")
