Dessica II was the inhabited second planet in the Dessica system, located near the Romulan Neutral Zone. The planet was once home to an ancient Romulan outpost. One of the archaeological sites that contained remnants of this Romulan presence were the ruins of Nafir.

According to the Star Trek: Star Charts (pages 45,66), the Dessica system was located in the Beta Quadrant. This system, also known as Vindemiatrix or Epsilon Virginis, was a single star system. The primary was a Class G star with a magnitude of +3, which was ten times the brightness of Sol. In the mid-22nd century, this system was in or near Romulan space. In the late 24th century, this system was in or near Federation space.
