Dessica II was the inhabited second planet in the Dessica system. This planet was near the Romulan Neutral Zone. The planet was once home to an ancient Romulan outpost. One of the archaeological sites that contained remnants of this Romulan presence were the ruins of Nafir.
In 2370, Dessica II was governed by a heavily-corrupted government. The same year Captain Jean-Luc Picard was kidnapped from a bar on Dessica II by a group of mercenaries working under Arctus Baran. (TNG: "Gambit, Part I")
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts (pages 45,66), the Dessica system was located in the Beta Quadrant. This system, also known as Vindemaitrux or Epsilon Virginis, was a single star system. Primary was a Class G star with a magnitude of +3, which was ten times the brightness of Sol. In the mid-22nd century, this system was in or near Romulan space. In the late 24th century, this system was in or near Federation space.
